Worst Idea Ever

I reached the ultimate level of stupidity tonight. A certain person's roommates (me) are right now either at work or in a different state. So tonight I settled in for a quiet evening of solitude and peace. After finishing Tess of the D'urbervilles (so sad!) I decided that I would find out what else was on the television.
Bad idea.
I stumbled upon one of those movies that I have to watch whenever it comes on. This list of movies includes Legally Blonde, Maid in Manhattan, Seven, and either of the High School Musicals.
The movie I encountered tonight was Silence of the Lambs. Is there a person alive (excluding my mom) who doesn't love this movie? And of course it is right at the part of the movie that scares me the most. You know the part. Clarice stumbles upon the home of Buffalo Bill and he chases her around the very dark basement wearing night vision goggles.
YIKES!!!
Night vision goggles are not right. If God wanted me to be able to see in the dark, he would have given me those cool eyes that the guy from Ghostbusters II had. (Although those were really freaky, too.)
So now I am alone in my house, locked in my room with various objects placed in front of the door so that in case someone comes in my room in an attempt to "R" or "M" me (ask me later if you don't know what those mean) I will be able to hear him and scream for my life.
I won't be taken alive!!! My window is open and I am confident that the Mail-Order Bride couple next door will hear me scream and save me.
I hope I live to see morning, friends.

Confession. I don't know if I have ever actually watched the movie The Witches. But the book scarred me for life and I don't think I want to be involved in a movie.

Last night we watched a surprisingly enjoyable movie for Fear Fest. Hush, Hush...Sweet Charlotte was a star-studded romp featuring the always wonderful (think Watcher in the Woods) Bette Davis.

The plot: Charlotte (Davis) spends her life alone in a gigantic Southern plantation home after the gruesome murder of her lover (Bruce Dern). Everyone in the town thinks that she commited the murder and she is pegged as a crazy lady. Suddenly her cousin Miriam (Olivia de Havilland) comes to stay with her. That's when the scares start to happen.

I don't want to say any more, because that would give away the surprise ending. However, if you like old movies, this one is definitely worth the watch.

My First Time...

...to watch Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! It was really funny, except for that really weird song in the middle of the movie. (What was that about?)

And as an encore to an already wonderful Fear Fest Night, we popped in Valentine, possibly the reason that David Boreanez has not really found his way in movies. I don't know what I like more; the really vague way in which the movie is resolved or the perpetual nosebleeds that affect the killer after every murder. (Spoiler, David Boreanez is the killer, if you didn't figure it out.)

I was truly frightened once during the movie, the scene involved a spa and one tiny window for the killer to peep into. Yikes.

The Howling

I don't have a lot of time to talk about the movie of the night, but just so you know it was about werewolves and the mom from the Goonies was in it.

I would recommend this movie if you like weird werewolf-on-werewolf love scenes. (Which I do)

If you're looking for a classic, then this movie is definitely not it.

Best part of the movie? The five minute transformation scene. Oh yes, it took the guy five minutes of actual movie time to turn from a regular creepy guy to really creepy werewolf.

Fear Fest Continues

Last night we watched Disturbia, a modern take-off of the classic Hitchcock movie Rear Window. Do I love Rear Window? Yes, I do. Do I love Disturbia? Yes, I do. Here is why.

1. Rear Window has Perry Mason in it. And Jimmy Stewart. And Grace Kelly. I love all of those people. And Disturbia has incredible casting as well. Umm, first off Shia LeBeouf is simply wonderful. (See him next in Indiana Jones 4) And Disturbia also features Trinity from the Matrix. (I am glad that she is still acting)

2. I love voyeurism. Whether we are worrying about Miss LonelyHearts in Rear Window or checking out the husband across the street who is having an affair with the maid, I am intrigued.

3. I get freaked out everytime I watch Rear Window. Remember when he kills the dog? You secretly wish that Perry Mason didn't kill his wife, but you know that he did. And call me a baby, but that creepy guy from Disturbia (who also enjoys killing small animals) gives me nightmares.

Scariest Parts:

In Rear Window, there is that part at the end when Perry Mason is coming up the stairs and Jimmy Stewart is stuck in his wheelchair and you can just hear the footsteps. Yikes. I hate that part.

In Disturbia, the scariest part is when Shia is spying on him through the window and all of a sudden the killer guy is looking right back at him. I hate it when they do that in movies.

Until the next movie...

Fear Fest 2007

Tonight marked the beginning of possibly the greatest month-long event ever. Fear Fest 2007. Many of you know that Halloween is coming up at the end of the month. What many of you may not know is that I love to watch really stupid scary movies. (I'm not talking those really freaky ones where people get their brains drilled out or anything, those are disgusting) Anyway, for the month of October, I will only be netflixing horror movies.
Tonight we started with The Ring. I don't know if you've seen it, but it is super scary for me. (Keep in mind that I do frighten very easily)

PLOT: A young mother, her estranged ex and her son struggle to uncover the mysterious death of a relative.

VILLIAN: A little girl, for those who aren't into symbolism. Television for those who are.

SCARE-O-METER: Did I cover my face up for most of the scary parts? YES. Was I scared to walk up the dark stairs to my bedroom by myself afterwards? YES. I am going to have a hard time sleeping tonight? YES. Am I afraid to watch the video all the way through because I may or may not die in seven days? YES.

FINAL THOUGHTS: I like this movie but give me a break. TV never hurt anyone.
